please supply us with your details below

Fully describe the business's activities?
The business operates as a mobile dog grooming parlour with fully kitted-out vehicles that attend to the grooming activities at the homes of the clients.

How long has the business been established?
The business has been established for 11 years. It was started in 2008.

How long has the owner had the business?
Since inception.

How does the business operate on a daily basis?
Appointments come in largely via WhatsApp and e-mail and the website. Worksheets are created each day and handed to the teams with appointment details thereon. There are 4 x fully kitted-out vans with 2 x members of staff per van. They then travel to their listed appointments to do the grooming and return when the entire worksheet has been completed.

How are the clients attracted to the business?
Most of the business is repeat business from existing clients. Word-of-mouth from happy clients attracts new clients. The brightly coloured vans act as moving billboards and attract a lot of new cients who call in after seeing the vehicles on the road. Google Ads are also used at times.

What competition exists?
There are a couple of similar operators but the market is large and it has not affected business with them being out there.

What are the seasonal trends?
Winter can be quieter but if the news letter etc continues to go out then generally business is pretty consistent. The business currently closes for 2 weeks in December/January but it is felt that if the new owners wish to stay open over this period that there would be lots of business.

Is the business VAT Registered?
Yes, the business is VAT regsitered.

What VAT documentation is on file?

Yes, up-to-date management accounts are available.

February 2019 is available.

What percentage of the business is cash/credit?
Mostly EFT. There is an small element of cash.

How could the profitability of the business be improved?
There is scope for the business to be open on Saturdays but the present owner has decided not to do this. This will definitely increase sales and profitability. More advertising would attract more new business. There is potential for a franchising model here for which the owner is happy to share all the work done and information collated as part of the sale.

What is the total staff complement?
There are 8 x staff members plus the owner.

Give a breakdown of staff/ functions/ length of service?
There are 4 x Groomers + 4 x Drivers. Three of the Drivers are also Groomers.

Do any receive special perks or incentives?
This is at management's discretion. There is a monthly allocation of R250 per person towards a bonus at the end of the year. However, any complaints or problems reported are set off against the bonus depending on the severity of the complaint etc. Whatever is left at the end of the year is paid out to the staff. This seems to work well as there are few, if any, complaints.

Are they on contract?
Yes, the staff have letters of appointment.

How involved is the Owner in running the business?
The owner is able to currently be away frequently due to ill health of a family member and is also able to take holidays.

When does the current lease end?
No lease is required as this is a perfect work-from-home business. All that is needed is some parking space for the vehicles at night and on the week-end.

What are the trading hours?
The business generally operates within office hours: 8.30 am to 4.30 pm

Do you require a licence?
No licence is required to run this business.

What are the main assets of the business?

What is their overall condition?
The assets are in very good to excellent condition.

Do any require repairing?
No. Maintenance is adhered to.

Which assets are on lease/HP and with whom?
1 x Kia vehicle is still on lease.

Are they presently insured?
Yes, all the assets are insured.

Strengths?
Easy to run, knowledgable staff, history, unique business. Very professional.

Weaknesses?
Occasionally a "one man show" will pop up and undercut the prices but they soon dissappear as they realise it is unsustainable to run at a loss!

Opportunities?
Saturday trading will add to profitability, an extra van with extra advertising will also add to the top lone. There is potential to franchise this model. The new emerging middle-class in the country are also starting to use their services.

Threats?
No real threats perceived but economic conditions in the country could play a part but has not affected them greatly.

What is the reason for the sale?
Early retirement. The owner has a very ill member of family and she feels that she needs to spend more time with this family member.

Why is this a good business?
Very easy to run. Nicely profitable. Good history. Knowledgable staff. Scalability to grow exponentially. Potential to franchise the model - information on this is available as part of the sale.
