How did the Covid-19 pandemic impact the business turnover / daily operations?
Firstly, all work had to cease immediately, but despite this most of the clients continued to pay their monthly fees. This meant that the business was able to pay all the workers a portion of their salaries. The Business were also able to give the casual workers a stipend to at least allow them to feed themselves. The Business had a few clients who let them know that they were unfortunately not able to pay for the services which were suspended. The Business have had a number of clients forced to suspend or cancel contracts as they are still not receiving salaries. Most have assured the business owners that as soon as the situation changes, they will re-engage them.

What steps / actions have been taken to combat the effect of Covid-19 pandemic?
The business was fortunate to obtain a permit which enabled them to do limited work such as cleaning and sanitizing bins and removing garden refuse. This has led to a number of new enquiries and so we have been able to replace some clients. They have implemented the strict rules with regard to masks, sanitizer etc. and this has meant some costs were incurred. They have had to cut down on the number of days the casual workers are employed, as well as the number of casuals. This has been necessary due to clients who have cancelled as well as the need to limit the number of workers transported on the vehicles. The business are fortunate to have been affected in a smaller manner than many businesses due to the fact that they have excellent and long standing relationships with their clients who have been very supportive.
