Fully describe the business's activities?
Prime spot in town, selling fast food (pizza wood oven), burgers, toasties, vetkoek, breakfast, best pork ribs in town, fish & chips. We also sell liquor, cold drinks, bean to cup coffee and gourmet milkshakes.

How long has the business been established?
The business has been established for approximately 12 years. The Landlord took the business over from the previous owners beginning of July 2021.

How long has the owner had the business?
The Landlord took over the business during Covid about a year ago.

Give a breakdown between sit-down, takeaways and deliveries
Our sit-down customers are increasing daily (30%), but most of our customer base is take away food (approximately 50%). We do also offer deliveries (20%)

How does the business operate on a daily basis?
The manager or Owner opens and closes the shop. Experienced personnel prepare the food for order over the counter and sit-downs.The manager or Owner monitor the sales , services and till.

How are the clients attracted to the business?
The business has been here for so many years, its not only located on the best corner but extremely accessible and has become somewhat of a landmark in this area. Good affordable food and friendly service attracts our customers from all over this area and surrounding agricultural community.

What Advertising/Marketing is carried out?
We got a very active Facebook page with more than 800 followers and we are situated next to the Provincial road which makes us extremely visible to the public. Yet we find that our good relationship with our community and word by month are our best marketing strategy.

What competition exists?
There are various other small restaurants and eateries in our area, but none situated better than ours.

What are the seasonal trends?
December and school holidays are normally our best months but we've got more or less a constant turnover through out the year. January are mostly our quietest month every year.

How did the Covid-19 pandemic impact the business turnover / daily operations?
We had to adapt our business model and focused more on take aways and deliveries. Turn over did fall throughout the first months but picked up when deliveries and pick-ups where allowed.

What steps / actions have been taken to combat the effect of Covid-19 pandemic?
Our sit down capacity are much lower now because we changed the amount of tables but as previously noted, we increased on food pick-ups and deliveries.

Expansion of the menu will be a great advantage, especially into healthy options and home made dinners. More breakfast options as well as pub lunches are in big demand. Adding deserts will also be a big hit.

2 x front of house (runs tills, tables, handles all customers) 1 x Kitchen Chef 1 x Food prepper and cleaner The Pizza station are currently run by the owner's husband and admin duties, marketing etc. is done by the owner.

Because we run 12 hour shifts we give staff and owners meals during the day.

Yes, one of our front of house ladies knows the business and community extremely well.

Full time currently

Any special arrangements for the staff related to the Covid-19 pandemic?
Sanitizer, masks etc. are provided and we send them for Covid tests should they show any sign of the sniffles.

When does the current lease end?
There are no current lease agreement but as with the owners of the Take Away being also of the shopping center, They are willing to sign up to a 5 year lease with the new owners. Rent applicable will be R16500pm

Yes, 2 to 5 years.

What is the annual escalation %?
Per contract, the escalation are 10% per year but in all the years we've only had a 10% increase ones. Normally its between 5-8%. This year March 2022 there were no rent increase.
